Stressed, Tired, Rushed: A Portrait of the Modern Family

Children are much more likely than not to grow up in a household in which their parents work, and in nearly half of all two-parent families today, both parents work full time, a sharp increase from previous decades.
What hasn’t changed: the difficulty of balancing it all. Working parents say they feel stressed, tired, rushed and short on quality time with their children, friends, partners or hobbies, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.

Victoria Crayhon’s Thoughts on Romance from the Road

Victoria Crayhon spends a lot of time in her car. Over the past 10 years, she has driven cross country eight times. During those long rides, the Providence, Rhode Island–based photographer and professor at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth says her main sources of entertainment are the billboards she passes. Inspired by a project she did in graduate school where she altered the surgeon general warnings on cigarette advertisements with her own words, she decided to post her own words on movie theater and motel marquees for her series “Thoughts on Romance From the Road.”

What if I never get over him (or her) – you asked Google, here’s the answer

When I was younger, and a relationship ended, I would do this thing. I would flip forward as many months as my diary allowed and I would write, “Well, how do you feel today?”

It was a small gesture that hinted at a better tomorrow. A day when I wouldn’t wake from an angry sleep, full of imaginary conversations with my ex. When I wouldn’t think every pining love song was speaking just to me. When I wouldn’t punctuate every conversation with, “What do you think he meant when he said X?”

Why Bill Murray Is a Golden God

The man can absolutely do no wrong and will always be the coolest guy in the room. Bill Murray has become so preternaturally cool that he can make virtually anything watchable. That’s good news for Rock the Kasbah, the latest comedy from Rain Man and Wag the Dog director Barry Levinson, which features Murray as a down-on-his-luck music manager who discovers a promising singer in a rural Afghanistan cave, and which may be the sloppiest mainstream American comedy to receive a theatrical release this year.
